To be or not to be

“We’re getting a divorce,” screamed Jade’s dad. “Fine,” yelled her mum. Jade’s life just went from bad to worse, her parents were getting a divorce and she had become the most unpopular girl in school. It all started yesterday…

“Jade come and eat lunch with us” pleaded Britney and Avery. “Sorry I cant I’m eating with my boyfriend Brandon, maybe tomorrow”. Jade was the most popular girl in school, she was smart and beautiful. Everybody worshipped her.  But Jade had a secret passion chess but she knew she couldn’t pursue she passion and still be popular. Well she could try. That lunch she secretly snuck into chess club in a disguise. She loved it, she felt like her self for once. But as she came out and pulled her disguise off, there was Brandon, Britney and Avery. “Eew, you play chess, we’re telling everyone and you’ll be the most unpopular person in school”.
“We’re over Jade” said Brandon disgustedly. “Why did I make the brutal mistake of joining chess club,” sobbed Jade…

Jade was in her lilac and pink room with flowery wall paper listening to the sound of her parents yell and scream. She cried for hours on end, she even cried her self to sleep. “BEEP BEEP”. It was Monday morning, so Jade had to go to school today. She hated school now because she so unpopular that she had to eat lunch in the girls toilets. She had got thought a full day of school with out crying. But her life wasn’t getting any better. As she was walking home some on the popular girls ran past and pulled Jade’s skirt down in front of all the boys. Including her ex Brandon, all the boys giggled and teased her. Jade ran all the way home with her skirt by her ankles.

The  door burst open and in came jade as red as a tomato. Her mum ran to her, gave her a massive hug and said “What’s the matter honey”. "The, the popular girls pulled my sskirt down in front of alll the bboys,” mumbled Jade. “Oh honey its going to be ok,” said her mum “I’ve got someone I need to introduce to you”. A tall man, with night black hair and sparkly blue eyes walks out of the kitchen holding a cup of tea in hand. “WHO IS THIS?”
“This is my new boyfriend Jade, his name is Nathan.”
“When did this happen,” screamed Jade “didn’t you think of telling me”. Jade stormed off up to her room. Nathan followed her. “Can I come in?”
“I guess so!” sighed Jade. “I brought you a gift why don’t you open it?”
“Ok” said Jade “it’s a dog!”
“Yep I thought you’d like it, I can get you anything you want because I own the shopping Centre”.
“WOW, cool”

Word got out in school about Jade’s mum dating Nathan. Everyone was suspiciously nice to Jade, even after what happened to Jade. Britney and Avery approached Jade. “Hi Jade want to go the shopping center this weekend.”
“Sure, but I don’t have any money.”
“Don’t be silly we all know your mum’s boyfriend owns the shopping center, maybe we can have freebies”.
“Oh, yeah I’ll ask!”
“So that’s why every one was being nice to me!” thought Jade “their just using me for my mum’s boyfriend’s money”
To be or not to be that was the question…

Should Jade use the fact that her mum’s boyfriend owns the shopping center to become popular again (which goes against everything she believes in), or should she stay uncool and try and make some real friends. It was a difficult decision, so Jade decided to sleep on it. But her mind was to busy trying to figure out what she should do so she didn’t get any sleep. Due to her lack of sleep Jade stayed off school that day and she thought, and though. She finally came to a decision.

The next day Jade marched confidently into school. She marched straight up Britney and Avery and said “Thanks for your offer the other day, but I’m not going because I don’t want to take advantage of my mum’s boyfriend, and I don’t want to be someone who you use and pretend to be your friend!”
“Fine but what are you going to do, you won’t be popular and you never will be!”
“I’m going to find some real friends who aspirate me for who I am, and who like some of the same things at me!”
